Energetic Cosmos Laboratory
The Energetic Cosmos Laboratory is a leading astrophysics research center established in 2017 at Nazarbayev University by Nobel Laureate George Smoot. ECL's mission is to study fundamental questions in physics and astrophysics while fostering technical expertise and driving innovation at NU. The laboratory conducts cutting-edge research across diverse domains, including theoretical astrophysics, data science, observational astronomy, and advanced cryogenic detector technologies. ECL designed and operates the NU Transient Telescope, dedicated to the optical observation of fast transient phenomena, underscoring our commitment to advancing the frontiers of astrophysical discovery.
